Seattle businessman Hal Griffith was the brainchild behind the Great Seattle Farris Wheel.
The Great Seattle Faris Wheel took less than a year to complete but Griffith was met with many roadblocks and his project took decades to finish.
While plans to construct a tunnel to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct were underway The Seattle Great Farris Wheel project finally took lift off with support from the waterfront businesses.
