6 Month Pilot Program will Test Expanded Vehicle-Free Hours on Point Defiance Park's Five Mile Drive

In response to visitor feedback, Metro Parks will pilot a 6-month test expanding the vehicle-free hours on the outer loop of Point Defiance Park’s Five Mile Drive from November 1, 2013 to April 15, 2014.

This section of the Drive has been devoted for use by pedestrians, runners and cyclists on Saturdays and Sundays from the park’s opening until 1 pm, for many years.

The pilot tests the public’s use and interest in the expanded vehicle-free hours of Monday thru Friday, from park opening until 11 am. Metro Parks will gather community input throughout the pilot.
Park users are urged to share their input during the pilot by participating in an online survey between November 1, 2013 and April 15, 2014.
