I like to go to Forza Coffe in UP with wine/beer bar with friends who have kids because we can relax and have kids with us. Also Mandolin Cafe...any others in Tacoma and around? Can you tell me about them?

We have three boys so a place with space & lots of background noise is best. E9 is great--besides beer & drinks they have good bar food, which is also good kid food. They stop letting kids in at 8:00 or so, though, I think.
The Harmon downtown works out well, too, though the food isn't as good as E9, but it's a good option at night.
I think the Harmon's food has improved, actually. I had a "Tacoma Cobb" (sans various glutinous ingredients) recently there and it was awesome.
The Hub (which is owned by the same people) has GREAT food and lots of $5 options at happy hour (4-6 during the week). I like both places with the kids, but they are both very loud.
so "quiet" for me is a downside! When I have the kids with me I kind of go for "so loud nobody can tell my daughter's repeating herself about pokemon again."
But... La Fondita is on the quieter side and they have beer/wine/margaritas etc. Also, I think Commencement Bay has beer? Engine House #9 isn't terribly busy during the day and they've got lots of space and popcorn while you wait for your meal.
I think Shakabrah also has beer and wine.
