Starting this week, the Lumpia World mobile kitchen will be providing lunch service at the north end of the UW Tacoma campus every Monday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Named as one of Seattle’s best food trucks of 2012 by Seattle Met magazine, Lumpia World has been featured this summer at the downtown Tacoma Farmer’s Market. With the market shutting down for the season, Lumpia World has set up shop on campus for the winter.
The truck serves lumpia—an fried pastry similar to eggrolls—with a variety of fillings in addition to specials that change regularly. Hearty soups (or sopa) are also available. Lumpia World provides another dining option for students and others downtown, adding to offerings within the campus footprint that include Grassi's, Renaissance Cafe, Starbucks, Hot Rod Dog, Taco Del Mar, Subway, University Gyro House, Indochine, Cutters Point, Hello Cupcake, Bubbles, The Spaghetti Factory, The Swiss and Metro Coffee.
Mike Wark, of UW-Tacoma said in a call the students have been really enjoying the food truck.
The truck sets up near 17th Street, between the Dougan and Joy buildings and across the street from Tollefson Plaza. Lumpia World will be on campus at least through mid-March.
