By Order of the Mayor: December is Zoolights Month in Tacoma

Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland has proclaimed December Zoolights Month in Tacoma.

The proclamation, issued during a recent City Council meeting, recognizes the holiday-season lights festival as a “Tacoma community treasure” that has drawn more than 2 million visitors since it began in 1988.

“Tacoma is a brighter, more family friendly place because of this 25-year tradition,” the proclamation reads.

Zoolights also brings families and friends together to see the annual display of more than half a million lights, many in the shapes of zoo animals and local landmarks, the proclamation says.
