Herbs to Balance the Chakras
Updated: July 25, 2022
A healthy body is built with both a disciplined routine and a cleansed auric field, in which we sometimes call the Chakras. Chakras are specific areas of energy in the spiritual body located along the spinal cord.
These points are connected to different organs and other minor points of the body, which are also responsible for the flow of one’s life energy, the Qi or the Praana.
The seven main chakras are the crown chakra, third eye chakra, throat chakra, heart chakra, solar plexus chakra, sacral chakra and root chakra. What makes these points significant is its major effect on the spiritual, mental and emotional aspects of a person.
Blockages such as trauma, stress and negative experiences can create a domino effect on a person by blocking one’s ability to tune in with their True Self. A person with a blocked chakra/s may come out as irritable, angry, envious, anxious and greedy.
In witchcraft, checking on your chakras regularly is also important as it helps clear out any biases and negative energy that may cloud your ability to perform divination, spellwork and manifestation rituals.
Herbs for the Root Chakra
The root chakra is responsible for grounding us back to earth and to the present moment. It allows us to be fully aware of the actual situation rather than the picture that we’ve created in our mind, enabling us to make better informed decisions and guiding our thoughts to the positive side.
Cleanse your root chakra with these Dandelion Root, Ginger or Sage. Brew these herbs as you normally would or add this to a root-based meal before meditation.
Herbs for the Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra is responsible for your creativity, passion, imagination and love for life. This is where bliss and inspiration comes from. If this becomes blocked, motivation slowly dies and turns into toxic habits such as TV or social media addiction, severe procrastination and, in worst cases, self-harm or emotional instability.
Herbs for the Solar Plexus Chakra
Sometimes misinterpreted with the sacral chakra, the solar plexus chakra holds a similar responsibility to its nearby neighbor. The solar plexus chakra is both responsible for your creativity and your determination to apply the measures to keep the sacral chakra in its shape.
The solar plexus chakra supports the inspiration and motivation that you have by giving you the “guts” to make it happen. You know your solar plexus chakra is blocked when you start having over anxiety, nervousness, fear of failure and a pile of self-limiting beliefs that are stocking up inside of you — even before you start doing the ‘thing’.
To cleanse the solar plexus chakra from blockages, use rosemary or fennel as a main ingredient for a recipe:
Herbs for the Heart Chakra
There can be a lot of things that may influence the heart chakra. Past relationship experiences, negative family trauma, rejection and more. Most especially, this affects empaths of any kind. This can cause one to have a hard time loving themselves or expressing their feelings towards others.
To cleanse the heart chakra, use Hawthorn berry as tea or a piece for a wearable spell jar that hangs from your neck to your heart.
Herbs for the Throat Chakra
The throat chakra is responsible for all types of communication and negotiation. It gives you confidence to make your stand, speak for yourself and convey your thoughts.
Red Clover Blossom is a great option to heal and cleanse your throat chakra, allowing you to speak freely, calmly and with confidence.
Herbs for the Third Eye Chakra
The third eye chakra is the seat of your consciousness, our being. It is responsible for your ability to connect with your intuition. This is particularly important in divination practices.
To cleanse your third eye chakra, add mint to a tea mixture of your choice. While drinking the tea, imagine a white light shining in the middle of your forehead. You may also do a light massage to add sensation and impact of the ritual.
Herbs for the Crown Chakra
The crown chakra is your connection to the world, the universe and the energy around you. It is responsible for your wisdom, your insight, and most importantly, your relationship with the Divine Feminine.
Lavender is an ideal herb to soothe, heal and cleanse the crown chakra. This can be used to make incense for meditation or as an addition to a spiritual bath.
